Why should I use SciLife?

Scientific work profits from collaboration and communication. You can present yourself, your work and your resources to collaboration partners. SciLife can also help presenting your expertises and interests to potential employers.

Why should SciLife help to facilitate scientific search?

In contrast to full text engines SciLife uses a standardized and categorized approach. You can confine your search to resources, people, groups or publications. The search results can be displayed in a map view to sort hits geographically. Predefined keywords help to render your search efficient.

Who can set up groups?

SciLife encourages everybody to create any virtual group, group or institution he is related to. We recommend that if you are not the real world leader of a group or institution, then you should pass the leadership to the person in charge. Leadership is not restricted to people with a SciLife account.

What are virtual groups?

Every group that is not a working group, a facility or an institute can be a virtual group. These can be groups with common interests e.g. discussion groups as well as societies and associations or even groups with shared activities.

What means “claim usage”?

If you have the technical skills and are allowed to use a certain resource on your own, then you can claim the usage of this resource. Other people see on your and on the resource profile your usage. The usage of a resource can be subject to approval by the admin.

Who can see my data?

SciLife members can define the visibility of their data individually.

What happens if I delete personal data? Can it be restored?

If you delete data on SciLife it will be purged completely from our databases. Therefore, there is no way for us to restore any data which you deleted.
