Welcome to SciLife!
"SciLife provides a map of the scientific landscape enabling the research community to connect and to profit of interdisciplinarity in an easy way."
Let us tell you about how this story started: Working as PhD students in a lab can be frustrating at times, but indeed more often than not it is inspiring - especially in an environment where you cooperate with partners from distinct scientific disciplines, opening your mind for completely new experiments. SciLife was created by students working at the crossing of several research fields. We were fed up by the way science and its community is presented on the internet. We wanted to establish a map of the scientific landscape and thus enable researchers to easily search and browse the community. So, we set out to create an online networking, communication and presentation platform specially designed for the needs of researchers. In close cooperation with Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden we developed this platform. And here it is: SciLife - made by scientists for the scientific community. Made for you!
So what can you do on SciLife?
Based on the functionalities of a highly specialized social networking site, researchers can present their work, groups and resources to potential partners in science and industry, and benefit from extensive communication tools like messaging, discussion groups, blogs and forums. The high level of categorization and standardization achieved through the new keyword approach makes SciLife a highly effective search and browsing tool for all scientific purposes.
Once again: Welcome to SciLife! Enjoy the platform and be sure to contact us to tell us about any issues you may have encountered, or if you have any suggestions about how we can improve SciLife. And if you want to find out more about the people who created SciLife visit our profile.
